A swimmer’s pace is the speed at which one completes a standard length of a pool. To calculate pace, one must divide the distance traveled by the time it took to complete the distance. For example, if one swims 200 meters in 1 minute and 50 seconds, their pace would be 30 meters per minute. This Swimming Pace Calculator takes into account factors such as stroke type and current hand position in order to give an accurate result.
Uses a mathematical formula that takes into account start advantages, turn advantages, push advantages and time to the head/feet to convert between pool lengths, calculate splits and calculate target times for all distances between 15m and 100m, based off a swimmer’s best time.
The app allows the underlying calculation to be calibrated by the user to account for swimmers that may have better or worse starts/turns or approach the pacing of races differently. The default values have been compared against race analysis of top international swimmers and align closely with their times (every swimmer is different though).
This app is a great coaching tool that allows coaches to give their swimmers specific target times for distances not normally timed in competition, such as 35m etc.
